The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is currently advertising an award in biodiversity informatics.

The Young Researchers Award fosters innovative research and discovery in biodiversity informatics by graduate students in Masters and Doctorate programmes at universities, whose studies rely on Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) mediated data, in countries participating in the GBIF network.

The SANBI-GBIF Node Manager invites nominations (together with completed documentation), for any eligible candidate.  Recommendations will be submitted, together with the nomination package to Prof. Yonah Seleti, the Head of Delegation to GBIF.

A maximum of two nominations can be submitted by a Node HOD to GBIF.

Submissions are due by the 5th April 2019 to F.Parker@sanbi.org.za .  This will then be reviewed for final submission to GBIF before the 15th May 2019, by a panel chaired by the South African Head of Delegation, Prof. Yonah Seleti.

The call is also available as a news item on the GBIF website.
