Cape Town – Much of the Eastern Cape Forests’ animal diversity is unknown to the scientific endeavor. This is slowly changing after the large FBIP-funded Eastern Cape Forests Project.

Stellenbosch University’s Prof Savel Daniels led the invertebrate diversity component. He says that increasing fieldwork efforts are continually turning up new species. He says this is significant for South Africa as a biodiversity rich country.
