Pretoria – The Foundational Biodiversity Information Programme (FBIP) is excited to announce the first in a series of workshops to be offered for 2019 and beyond. The hands-on workshop will familiarise participants with the Barcode of Life data System (BOLD), the only informatics platform dedicated to DNA barcoding.

The workshop is being organised by Prof Sujeevan Ratnasingham from the University of Guelph and Prof Michelle van der Bank from the University of Johannesburg. Ratnasingham is the developer of the ‘lab in a box’, a technological device that wowed participants at the 2017 DNA Barcoding Conference (held in South Africa) with its ability to immediately identify species in critical situations.

Participants at upcoming course will learn about barcode data generation, analysis, management, and publication through manipulating their own data or test data provided.
